Shawn, from Good Deeds, originally contacted us back in November about getting some interior and exterior signage for a new business he was about to open. In particular, he needed exterior signs to help identify his business and drive traffic. And he needed interior signage to help identify the areas throughout the store, like where the different departments and the fitting rooms are located.
Shawn decided that he wanted our team to create and install new exterior building signs, marquee panels, vinyl window graphics, vinyl wall graphic with departments, as well as hanging department signs.
Since the new location was set to have their grand opening on February 10th, we needed to get as much work done as possible before the event. We received approval for everything except for the exterior building sign which was still in the process of design approval when we went to print and install with the other signage items.
The Inside Deal
Interior signs can use a much wider variety of materials such as aluminum composite, acrylic, PVC of varying thicknesses, adhesive vinyl, aluminum lighted signs, etc. Because of that, Shawn and crew had multiple choices at their disposal for their interior signage.
The Good Deals team decided to utilize an adhesive vinyl lettering for the department labels. We placed these on the walls to easily identify the departments.
The hanging department signs were made from 10mm Coroplast. The choice to go with coroplast was made because coroplast is direct printable and lightweight. This made it easy to hang from a drop ceiling without being concerned about damaging the ceiling itself.
The company’s choice of these two types of interior signage provided them the ability to easily identify and direct customers without having to create special hanging surfaces for the signage. Using the existing wall surfaces and utilizing the existing drop ceiling structure provided the support necessary to “brand” the interior of the location.
The Outside Deal
Perforated window film is the primary choice for larger window graphics, due to the ability to see through from the inside. When utilizing window space, solid printed vinyl is also an option, but it is opaque and will block visibility and light.
Good Deeds decided to use solid vinyl lettering from their entry door lettering and perforated vinyl graphics in the large window area that was high above the doors. This gives them more brand visibility from a distance. They also have some other large window spaces around the doors and building that are good candidates for perforated window film, if they decide to add them later after opening.
They also have an outdoor sandwich board sign that provides additional information for individuals walking up to the front doors.
This location has a standing electronic monument sign with the company brand and programmable messaging that allows the company to announce specials and promote their grand opening. When we installed the other signs, we also ended up replacing the existing faces on the monument sign. Shawn didn’t realize that the backsides were spray painted which would block the light from inside the box from shining through.
